View Bass Drum Pedal Technique (Side View)
I’ve been asked a few times what pedal technique I use. Its a sort of jumping motion using the sweet spot to get enough bounce for the second note when playing doubles. The sweet spot is (usually) located 1-2 inches from the top of the pedal and it seems to bounce back quicker when playing in this area.
I’m not using the heel-toe method, neither am I using the slide technique but rather I make the first note on the sweet spot and the second note at the top of the pedal board. Its more of a jumping motion and, while similar to the slide technique, this jumping motion reduces the friction on the pedal board allowing me to play faster and louder. I call it the Jumping Technique. More videos on this once I get my new camera.
Both notes are made using the ball of my foot using my ankle. Never been a fan of double pedals so I developed this way of playing fast bass drum stuff.
Please excuse the video quality. High quality videos coming soon...

@punkrockdrummer1990 Hm… I don’t knooooow
Mike is pretty dam fast on his kick… I don’t even think he owns a double pedal because his playing and foot technique is too beast. (via YouTube)
