View Warming up on an even more battered old kit

The kit I’m playing has sadly seen better days. Its the nastiest kit at work and its in dire need of some new skins. All the nicer kits were already in use so I thought I would warm up on this one until the one I usually practice on was free. But hey, a bad workman blames his tools. I’m attempting to make a good sound on this kit, despite its faults, guess I like a challenge lol! I find kits like this help me make an even better sound when I get to play my nice Yamaha/Zildjian. Had to post this nifty little trick I picked up from Jojo Mayer. The right hand may look a little strange here but I’m muting the snare while playing the hi hat and rim clicks. I’m also pressing the stick into the snare which causes a slight overtone when you hit the hi hats. Read More…
